Glutton for Punishment, Season 2, Episode 11, Corn Husking

Bob Blumer, in the yellow cap, interviewing two Illinois contestants.

The National Corn Husking Contest Association had the pleasure of having the host and film crew from the television show Glutton for Punishment film an episode at the 2007 National Contest. Bob Blumer spent several days with John Van Liere and the South Dakota contestants training to take part in the contest. Bob is the first Canadian to participate in the corn husking contest. Now that he lives in California he is also the first contestant from California. The 2007 contest site was to be at the location of the 1938 National contest site. Due to a wet fall in South Dakota and because of water standing in the field the corn husking contest site had to be moved. The new location was a field that had terraces and the lands for the contest had to be spread out. This meant that the film crew had to walk close to a mile in one direction to film a contestant. Then they had to walk back to another part of the field to film the next contestant. After watching the filming of this television episode I have allot respect for these people. If success is measured by hard work, then Bob and the film crew are very successful.

The series is produced by Paperny Films for Food Network Canada.
